In the event of a failure, and is not due to a mechanical part (refrigerant leak) we use a UV dye which shows under black light. This allows us to accurately pinpoint where the leak is coming from and rectify it before vacuuming out and recharging the refrigerant to the correct level.
It is a good practice to have your air conditioning system checked annually before summer so you know it is functioning correctly. So check your air conditioning in winter and your heater in summer.
